Don’t have a dad? Trying to forget the one you have? This list is for you.
Celebrate this Father’s Day with some good old-fashioned retail therapy to make up for the years of trauma and emotional suffering that you faced. Sorry guys, this one is geared toward the girls! These are my top recommendations for something to lessen the sting.
Upgrade Your Daily Lip
When you’re screaming at your father, you might as well make your mouth look and feel its best. Maybe he’ll listen to what’s coming out of it for once!
Start with Vaseline Lip Therapy. This is my favorite lip treatment, it’s affordable and just works. Specifically, this is the one that comes in the little mini tub, not the stick. The stick version isn’t as good. This specific set comes with fun scents and tints which is incredible.

Next, grab a lip stain. My current favorite is the purple shade from the R.E.M. Beauty Wicked collection, the Tulip Fields lip stain in Made in Oz. This is a gel formula that is so easy to blend and apply. I love lining my lips with this for color that stays all day.

Finally, fill in your lip with the Glossier Generation G lipstick. This is a sheer matte lipstick that’s perfect for everyday wear. I don’t typically love a fully opaque lip, so I love that this one is buildable. While this is advertised as matte, I don’t find it to be particularly drying, but I do apply very thin layers or even just dab it on. My favorite shade right now is Fuzz, described as a soft rosy taupe. Check your local TJ Maxx and Marshall’s for this as I’ve been seeing them pop up over the last several months.

Find a Calming Scent
I love fragrance for its calming properties. In fact, I always spray my pillow at night with something so I can drift off into a peaceful, scent-driven slumber. I am a firm believer in the power of perfume, not only for how it soothes the soul but for how it makes you feel and view yourself. Here are my top picks from someone who only wears gourmands:
Caroline Herrera Good Girl Blush
Smells expensive, dainty, and feminine, just like the childhood version of you that deserved better. The most floral of these options, but a floral that’s barely there. I’m a floral hater, and I enjoy this fragrance a lot. Not the most long lasting, and you might find the bottle to be a bit gaudy, but a solid option.

Burberry Her
This is a gorgeous scent that leans more fruity. Longer lasting than Good Girl Blush if you enjoy this scent. Opening notes could be divisive, so I recommend smelling in person first.

PHLUR Vanilla Skin
Great for my fellow vanilla lovers. Keep in mind this is a body mist, not a full perfume. They do have an EDP in this scent, but I don’t think it’s worth the hefty price tag.

Glossier You Rêve
This is part of the recent expansion to the your-skin-but-better line from Glossier. This version of You leans on the sweet side. Don’t go in expecting to smell like a cupcake, as the DNA of the You line is still musky and skin-like at its core. I prefer this version over the original by a mile.

Ariana Grande Cloud Intense
If you need a scent that feels like a warm hug, this is my best recommendation. I talked about my top Ariana Grande fragrances in my last post. While I would recommend any of them for a Father’s Day splurge, Cloud Intense feels the most cozy and empowered like a daughter scorned. Only available at Ulta!

Body Care
In the same vein as a good perfume, a body lotion could also do the same thing if that’s more your cup of tea.
For the most luxurious and lovely scent, grab the EOS Vanilla Cashmere lotion. If you’re feeling extra spendy, get the matching Whipped Body Butter for crazy hydration.

Buy a Bag to Hide Your Problems In
I’ve already sang the praises of my favorite shoulder bag and would recommend the Kayla Small Convertible Shoulder Bag from Kate Spade to anyone who enjoys a small purse. The Wild Pink color is the most gorgeous thing I’ve laid my eyes on and is perfect for the rest of the summer.

If shoulder bags aren’t your thing, try the For All Iris Sling Bag from Iris & Rainbow. This has taken over as my favorite everyday-bag-that-isn’t-a-purse. Bonus points: The design itself is fairly unisex, so you can make your boyfriend or husband carry it when you’re tired of carrying around all of this baggage.

Sleep Away the Sadness
When all else fails, go to bed and hope that you’ll feel better the next day. My life drastically improved after investing in bedding. I can’t promise that you won’t have nightmares of your father, but at least you might be more comfortable. From pillows to sheets to blankets, my favorite brand by far is Coop Sleep Goods. I’ve reviewed a few of their pillows (the Eden and Cool+) with another on the way. Check out their luxury sheets, like the Comphy SoftSpa sheets, or the Cool+ sheets if you’re a hot sleeper. You may be able to grab them cheaper directly from Coop’s website.

You can click here for 20% off your purchase on Coop’s website. This isn’t an affiliate link where I will earn commission, but I will earn a few rewards points if you choose to use it. Speaking of, signing up for Coop’s rewards program could get you additional savings if you complete some of their sign-up activities to earn points.
Not looking for luxury bedding? I think the Coop pillows are worth the splurge, but I also find these Target sheets to be thin and comfy!
Hydrate Your Skin
If you’ve been crying a lot, you need to rehydrate your skin! Aside from drinking water, my recent favorite has been the Elf Thirst Burst Drops. These are an INSTANT drink of water for my skin. I can immediately feel the difference. Great as a standalone skincare item or as prep for makeup!

Take Care of Yourself
I’m wishing everyone a great Father’s Day no matter what your situation is. Be kind to yourself, the day is almost done!
